I’M IN THE HOME STRETCH!
And OMG I have so much to do still for my Spring 2018 One Room Challenge ™ office makeover project! I’m so so excited!
Overall, this week was aaaalllll about painting with Sherwin Williams paint. I got the room primed and mostly painted plus some other stuff. Take a look at this video:

TAKE A LOOK BEHIND THE SCENES OF MY MAKEOVER!
I LOVE, yes, {{ love spelled in all capitals}}, love this paint, and I’m not just saying that because it was sponsored. This Sherwin Williams Emerald paint is so easy to work with and levels out so beautifully. And a little really goes a long way! My biggest challenge this week was in choosing paint colors. BTW, if you are reading this in real time, Sherwin Williams is having a 30% off sale on their paints and stains until May 7, 2018! Now is the time to grab your paint folks!
You may have seen the video last week where I began the process and then the wallpaper came in THE NEXT DAY! So once I saw that in person, I started to second guess my color choices and thought I should maybe match the wall paint to the wallpaper and the make the teal on the doors a deeper shade of teal. I moved forward with what I selected, but there is a possibility that everything will change! I will know once the wallpaper goes up. Stay tuned!
I taped up one of the wallpaper panels so that I could take a test run with the paint colors and the chair. All together now…. “oooooooh,……ahhhhhhhh” ?
And here is a gratuitous photo of my hot hubs posing while I get the camera settings right, lol.
NOTICE HOW I SAID I GOT SOME “OTHER STUFF” DONE TOO??
Whelp, lo and behold, after only about 3 years of my vintage brass sputnik light sitting around and waiting for a polish & lacquer makeover, I finally finished it and it’s up on my ceiling…wahoooo!!! I’m sure this will be a whole other blog post at some point with the finer points of “how to”, but, this is what it looked like before I gave it a polish. Brasso is the bomb, yo. Makes it so easy to polish, but you gotta lacquer the bad boy right after if you want it to stay shiny and not patina like this one did.
Here’s me balancing the light on a stack of paint rollers, 2 containers of nails & screws & a level. Of course I’m fully rigged like a pro….right? I mean, of course this is totally how the pros do it. ?
Gotta test it….and there’s only one of me, soooo,…. I have to support it somehow, right?
SUCCESS!!!
This is what happens when you are using a remote and you try to time yourself jumping in the air……it’s my ghost leaping for joy!
Look at Mr. Sputs now! In all of it’s vintage sputnik glory, and I did it all mahself. {Bonus}….it actually works too. And I even used electrical tape. {{I’m so fancy.}} At least I know my house won’t burn down!
WHAT TO EXPECT NEXT WEEK?
Honestly, I don’t even want to think about how much more I need to do, but tomorrow starts the sprint to the finish line. Wallpaper goes up, then I will decide on final paint colors, if I’m sticking with what I have now or choose something else.
Once final paint is on the walls, the stencil goes up, then the window treatments.
After that is move in and accessorizing!! I’m still on the hunt for the perfect office chair, but for now, my vintage Herman Miller will probably look pretty sweet in there. We shall see!
Make sure you are following me in all the places {{psst, especially Instagram and facebook}} because that is the only place you will get the raw behind the scenes stuff {on instastories} and sneak peeks {insta and FB feeds}.
Once again, thank you to Linda from Calling it Home and House Beautiful for creating this challenge and be sure to check out the featured designer’s and fellow guest participants for some fantastic inspiration, and you may just learn a thing or two for your own project! I mean, that’s what we are all here for right?
