I am so proud to announce that I am participating in the Spring 2018 One Room Challenge ™!!   Over the years, I had seen so many designers participating in this and always thought it was by invite only.  So, yesterday I stumbled upon one of the featured designer’s for this year’s on instagram with the One Room Challenge tag and I went on the hunt to figure out how I could get involved.

Lo and behold!  I caught it the day before it began and I sprung in to action figuring it all out and here we go!  WEEK 1 of the challenge begins!  Linda from Calling it Home originally created this challenge years ago for herself and some friends to challenge themselves to stay focused and complete one room in 6 weeks, and 13 seasons later, it has become a bi-annual nationwide event where House Beautiful has partnered with ORC to follow 20 featured designers as well as guest participants like myself!

SO THE ONE ROOM CHALLENGE BEGINS TODAY!

So….Since I’m a bit behind the 8 ball {sorta how I like it….I know, I’m weird} I don’t have a fancy mood board pulled together or anything like that, but fortunately for me I already have been mulling design ideas around in my head for my new office.  Check it out!

This is where I work now:

This has been my office since before I became a designer, and I have tried to make it cute along the way, but I am so excited for a fresh start!  This office will stay here along with all of the corporate stuff and book keeping and my new office downstairs will be my creative space.  Seriously, having corporate binders and all of the unopened mail staring at me in the face sort of crimps my creativity.  Knowhatimean?

We just turned our guest room in to my step daughter’s new room and her old room is currently vacant….mostly…..except for the fact that I’m now storing everything in it that I need to get rid of, lol.

Here is what it looks like now:

If you look closely, the closet on the left opens straight through to my craft room behind it.  Right now it’s stuffed full of shipping boxes for my Etsy store and costumes!  As you can tell, we haven’t completely finished moving my step daughter out, so, this will be the kick in the pants to clear everything out and get moving!

Now for the inspiration photos.  OMG….I’m so excited.

Sherwin Williams Noir collection jumped out at me when it came out in 2017 and couldn’t have been more timely, and of course I’m all agag because it’s what?  Dark and moody!!  My favorite!  I will be using their paints exclusively on this project to create a monotone space.  Since day one, this has been the style that I’m most drawn to.  I’ll have a bit more white than most of these photos, but I’m so excited to create a space that is through and through me.  And if you are feeling inspired to create your own monotone space I talk about it here.

Please follow along as I transform what was a little girl’s room in to a sophisticated office worthy of an interior designer!  And it will be the best darn guest room {if I do say so myself!} that anyone will ever get to stay in.

Also, join in on all of the fun and choose a few of your favorites to follow along.  I can already tell you that my favorite featured designers to follow along with are Apartment 34 and Coco & Jack and so far from the other guest designers, Porch Day Dreamer and Amidst The Chaos have caught my eye!
