Okay, so, 1 week down and 5 to go in the Spring 2018 One Room Challenge ™!! Since I literally started this office makeover the day before week 1, I have spent most of this week planning and sourcing sponsors and products and on that note, I’m super happy to announce that Sherwin Williams and Stencil Library have both partnered with me on this project! I’m hoping to announce more sponsors soon!
LET’S GET TO THE PROGRESS!
It isn’t the largest room on the planet, so I have to be strategic with how I choose to implement some of the things I want to do. Here is the list of the elements I have decided on so far:
- The wall stencil
- The paint hue, but not the exact color yet
- The large floral wall mural
- The desk
- A rug
- A sofa (this may prove to be a challenge to get the one I want, so be sure to read on to see what this challenge is!)
THE STENCIL:
I am so excited to be using this stencil on my wall because it can’t be found in the US. It has just the right amount of power in it’s pattern and the art deco style lends the level of sophistication I want. It is called the Chain Lightning stencil from Stencil Library.
As far as the wall color goes, it will be as deep as this color above, almost black, but with an undertone of something else. This particular paint below is Farrow & Ball’s Black Blue so I’m thinking of doing a deep teal or maybe even an eggplant, most likely something from the 2017 Sherwin Williams Noir collection like pictured below. There is a small chance I’ll do a base of black with the doors and
Most likely it will be a teal, because the idea of this space is that it speaks to my branding, and I use a blue/teal in my logo. i.e. the colors I use on my website and logo…..thus the floral wall mural…..which is next up!
THE WALL MURAL
These are the murals I have selected for my office makeover and the one I use all depends on if one of these companies decides to partner with me, or if I have to purchase it. They are both images of paintings by Dutch artist, Jan Davidsz De Heem, and I love them both! They have all of the colors of my brand in it, and I love these flowers. There is something wild and imperfect about them….{{sorta like me, ha!}} If you look closely, there are sweet little insects and flying critters in the paintings as well.

The coolest thing about the mural is that it can be printed to a custom size and crop, which is perfect, because I don’t intend to use the entire image. I may tilt it a bit and I am definitely going to wrap the corner of the room in it, sorta like this.

So, I have some thinking to do, and more planning. In the meantime, here is some of the furniture I have already selected, or already have in my possession.
THE FURNITURE
I have my heart set on the emerald green velvet sofa, but of course it’s out of stock until literally the DAY BEFORE reveal day. {{insert super weepy designer}}. I am hoping that by some grain of luck it will come in to stock earlier. If not, I will have to settle for the blue one, but it just isn’t the same! Who knows, I may just end up going with something totally different in emerald green, but this one is so well priced and is also a sleeper sofa, which is perfect for my needs. Gah!
The chrome and glass desk, a pair of grecian gold bust lamps and the brass entry table were donated to me from my client when she dismantled the Mercedes Project. I mean, how lucky am I?
I plan to go on the thrifting hunt for the perfect desk chair. I just found a gorgeous leather tufted high wingback chair for my husband for $45, so there has to be one out there for me right? ?
THE ACCESSORIES
The panther pillow and brass figurines are from Target’s new OpalHouse™ collection and I have to say the entire collection is DIVINE. Don’t be surprised if I don’t do a whole blog post about it. {{wink}}. If you follow me on Instagram, you have seen the teen room makeover I’ve been working on for my step-daughter, well hello new bedding! I mean, wait until you see all of the adorable bedding options they have, and decor, and wall art, and furniture, and, and, and…… I’m so so excited because I just knew I wanted black and white on the bedding but couldn’t find anything affordable. Target to the rescue!
